We are staying close to the Triangle today for a look at NC House District (HD) 63. HD-63 includes Burlington, part of Mebane and parts of Alamance County. HD-63 has a population of ~76,775. In many ways this district is fairly typical of North Carolina, with demographic data, income, employment levels and education levels tracking at right around the state averages.
In 2018 this seat is being contested by the incumbent, Stephen M Ross and Democrat Erica McAdoo.
Democrat Erica McAdoo was born and raised in North Carolina and has lived her entire life in the state. She lists her key priorities as education, in particular school funding and teacher pay, access to training and improving worker skills to attract employers to Alamance county, affordable health care, a reform of the foster care system, a livable wage and fair districting for North Carolina. She has been endorsed by Our Shot NC. Campaign website, Facebook page.
Stephen M Moss is the Republican incumbent. Like his opponent, he has spent his whole life in North Carolina. Although his website doesn't currently detail his policy platform, he does list his values as "protecting our values", "putting students first", "conservative businessman", "family man" and "honest leader". See his legislative history here. Campaign website, Facebook page.
